Gys matriculated at Hopetown High School in the Northern Cape in 1997, whereafter he attended the University of Stellenbosch and qualified with the degrees B.Comm, LL.B and LL.M. During his studies towards the LL.B degree, Gys attended the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands for six months as part of an exchange programme.

After obtaining his Master’s degree, Gys was appointed as a candidate attorney at a prominent Stellenbosch firm and was admitted as an attorney during 2007. During 2008, he was appointed as an associate in the Grahamstown office of Nolte Smit. Gys is mainly involved in Correspondent matters, Civil Litigation, General Commercial Transactions and Collections.

Gys and his family reside in Grahamstown. During his spare time, Gys enjoys mountain biking, jogging and hiking and has taken part in numerous marathons and half-marathons.


Sandra matriculated at Union High School in Graaff-Reinet in 1989, whereafter she attended the University of Stellenbosch. After two years of studying towards a BEcon degree she changed to studying law through the University of South Africa. She is currently completing her LLB through Unisa.

Sandra commenced her legal career as a candidate attorney at W J Olckers & Son (now Nolte Smit) in Grahamstown. Her main areas of practice are High and Magistrate’s Court Litigation, Conveyancing, Deceased Estates and Collections.

Sandra and her family reside on a farm in the Grahamstown district, where she works in the Grahamstown office. During her leisure time, she enjoys the outdoors and plays tennis for one of the clubs in the local tennis league.
